3. magnesite or magnetite? If magnesite (magnesium carbonate) than it is unlikely, as this generally accompanies weathering or alteration of ultramafic rocks. Some gabbros are present on Singapore, so it is possible that magnsite does occur. Magnetite is magnetic iron oxide - it is a common accessory mineral in mafic rocks such as basalts and gabbros - so it will definitely be present.
